The Right is one of those waves where things go wrong pretty frequently. The thing about Western Australia’s scariest slab is that it would be hard to know exactly when things are going to go wrong. A wave that looks semi-makeable might decide, at the last minute, to do something that no one expected it to do–although it happens frequently enough that expecting it to do something unexpected should be expected. That’s exactly what happened to Rudi Schwartz, a Tasmanian hellman, back in May of 2016.
