So this guy, Kyle Katsandris, from San Clemente, Calif. (which, btw, is actually a pretty good producer of moto talent, not just surfers) isn’t confirmed to be the one charging this gigantic gap on the 60 Freeway in Riverside County, east of Los Angeles. But he did post it on his Instagram account. And, judging by said Instagram account, dude knows how to handle motorized hardware.
Video of the jump that was posted Friday has gone semi-viral (mostly because he stuck the hell out of it) but also because it has forced CalTrans to locate the gap and dismantle the ramp set up there to discourage copycats.
“We want to impress upon people that this was a dangerous stunt and somebody could have lost their life on that highway,” CalTrans spokeswoman Terri Kasinga said. “This could have turned into a tragic situation and we hope never to see this again.”
This looks like it took some serious work to make happen. And while it would be nice to see more of the landing, you can tell the gap required more than a little scouting and setup.
