Well, at least the rapid looks runnable. And the bear apparently thought so, too. Some backpackers were filtering water near their camp somewhere in or around Yosemite National Park last week when they came across several brown bears and one proceeded to go for a swim. Then charged this rapid, which is most likely on a fork of the Merced River, perhaps the South Fork?
The bear was beaten back and forth down the granite slide before, according to the hiker who took the video, exiting the river at the bottom after safely navigating the rapid. Nice send bear!
