Waikiki is a funny place. It’s packed with tourists all the time. Queens beach is an obstacle course full of floating humans, most of them completely clueless that they’re in the way. And it’s ok. That’s the best part about it–most of those shitty attitudes that are rampant in lineups around the world just sort of drift away–or at least their edges are a little less sharp. All is not forgiven, but most is just simply… less important. It’s a fun place to be if you can get in the right state of mind.
And if you’re a grom who calls Queens your local, well, you’re going to have to learn to deal with crowds and smile about it. After all, smiling should be considered the most stylish maneuver in surfing.
