The Inertia

It was an eye-popping, September to remember on the East Coast this year. A literal statement for one Daytona Beach, Florida surfer.

According to a local news channel, Raymond Davidson was in the middle of a dream session last week, enjoying the hurricane swell that blessed the East Coast all month when his left prosthetic eye popped out of its socket. He apparently kept his eyes open as he was getting pitted out of his mind when he bit it and the eye was dislodged. Unfortunately, the prosthetic is worth $1,800. A good Samaritan set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for the expensive prosthetic.

But his wife is asking other surfers to keep their own eyes peeled in case it washes up on the sand.

“It would be amazing to find it in the ocean,” Davidson’s wife, Carolyn Pandolfi told the station.

As of Monday, the prosthetic had not been found.
