Sure, he had THAT heat at Teahupoo when he didn’t catch a wave, but in his defense, it was fucking terrifying, even for a professional surfer. Since then, Filipe has flipped some kind of switch–perhaps even, a done a deal with the devil. That’s how good his surfing is. The WSL (biased, yes!) recently released a profile piece on him entitled Wunderkind and now, just a few short months later, another one has leaped into the deep end of the internet pool.
