Depending on where you surf most, there’s probably a good chance that you’ve surfed with sharks nearby at some point and never even noticed. Florida, of course, enjoys a shark migration of epic proportions each spring, and locals on the East Coast are beginning to see the start of it now.
Blacktip sharks aren’t generally thought of as dangerous, and as you can see in the video above, almost never show aggression towards humans. Around 10,000 of them pass through the waters off Florida each year, cruising in the shallows under surfers, spending mid-January through April in warmer waters.
