How’s this for a for a single track? This zinger is in the abandoned Mežica lead and zinc mine under Mt. Peca in Slovenia, just south of the Austrian border. The mine has been opened to adventure tourism since 1997, for kayaking, hiking and railway tours (apparently there’s still water in the mine shaft). There are some 800 kilometers of tunnel in the mine, according to the mine’s operators.
This relatively-new, four-kilometer section of single-track trail is for the higher-end, enduro crowd. In fact, parts of the trail are used in a World Enduro Race, aptly named the Black Hole Enduro, which goes off at the end of July. Racing or otherwise, this trail looks fun.
