Whitewater kayaking is about as core a sport as you’ll find. It’s not going to end up on postcards advertising beach getaways. Because there’s a lot of suffering that comes with finding success at the top end of the sport. But it’s still achingly beautiful to watch.
Cooper Lambla and Tyler Allyn teamed up to create this gorgeous film about working with gifted Alaskan bush pilots to run three previously unrun rivers in the southern part of America’s most remote state. Camping in the rain, portaging impassable gorges, paddling gnarly, secluded Class V, is just part of the adventure in Frontier of Firsts. Todd Wells, Jay Mahan, Eric Parker, Chris Korbulic, and Jeff Shelton join Allyn and Lambla in a film that blows minds with its cinematography–and that’s before you even get to the whitewater.
