As you may have heard, a large part of Hawaii’s Big Island is currently under assault. Kilauea first erupted on May 3rd and hasn’t stopped. President Trump declared it a major disaster. Hundreds of people in the area—most notably at Leilani Estates—have been affected either by lava, noxious fumes, or other types of fire and/or brimstone. Well, now there’s another thing to watch out for: crazy old men with guns.

The video you see above was shot on May 29th, at just after 12 p.m. The man with the gun has been identified as 61-year-old John Hubbard, who lives at Leilani Estates. According to reports, when Hubbard saw the victim, a 32-year-old who also lives at Leilani Estates, he demanded they leave the area before assaulting, then firing at, the victim and the group he was with. “He and several acquaintances were surveying the area of his former residence that had since been taken by lava when they were approached by a man in a pickup truck,” reads the press release about the incident. “The suspect allegedly assaulted, then pointed a firearm at the victim and his group, demanding that they immediately leave the area. During the argument, the suspect fired several shots from a handgun. ”

Later on that same day, police arrested Hubbard without incident and took him to a Hilo jail, while detectives continue the investigation, currently classified as a first-degree reckless endangering.
