Riding Portugal is a series in which Portugal’s culture, people, food, and amazing landscapes are discovered along the roads that ultimately lead to the country’s best waves. São Miguel, in the Azores, was the destination for this episode of the travel series.
I had been to these islands many times before but never to explore their true essence. Everything seems to be alive here; the lush vegetation, its powerful waves, the way people cook their food straight from the ground or bathe in pools that are heated by its volcanic activity. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the world.
