Kayaker Dane Jackson posted this tribute to his dad, Eric Jackson, on his Instagram page today and it’s a mind blower: the elder Jackson, 54, pulls a ridiculous backflip into the river off a cliff, landing vertical, then immediately goes into a front flip, or what’s known as a “front loop” in kayaking parlance. Eric is a legend in the sport, a four-time freestyle world champ, and a grandpa (his daughter Emily has a son with husband Nick Troutman). Dane is following in his dad’s footsteps. Actually, it could be argued that Dane is the more accomplished downriver racer, having won the North Fork Championships, one of the world’s toughest Class V events, twice.
