If the main objective of shortboarding is to go fast, get barreled, and punt gigantic airs, the objective of longboarding is to minimize pumping and flailing as you set a line and trim. Muted precision is the name of the game, to the point where it doesn’t look like you’re doing much of anything at all. Maybe you actually aren’t. That’s precisely what makes longboarding such an easy target for Raglan Surf Report’s Luke Cederman who calls logging “the waiting in line at McDonald’s of surfing.”
