Kai Jones is too young to buy himself a ticket to see The Avengers in theaters. And he’s definitely far too young to walk into a bar and expect service, even if all he wants is a kid’s grilled cheese.
It turns out the 11-year-old skier isn’t too young to land his own part in TGR’s Far Out, even if it may have been a stroke of right-place, right-time luck. When another athlete backed out of the film at the very last minute, TGR was in danger of having absolutely nothing else to film around Jackson Hole. So Todd Jones, TGR co-founder and Kai’s dad, tossed Kai’s name into the hat at a board meeting. The father-son duo had been filming recently and Todd was impressed with what he saw from his son.
Boom! A star was born. Kai had an inside track with dad’s help and he clearly stepped up to the plate with his performance alongside Tim Durtschi.
“I always say to myself, ‘How far can I push it and not make my mom scared?'”
Quote of the year from such a young one.
