The Inertia

Forget what you thought you knew about Florida. It’s not all beaches and golf courses for retirees from New York. It’s got a crazy amount of wildlife. Especially Collier County, on the southwest side of the state abating wild country including Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park. This year alone, the county has seen at least 25 domestic animals, including farm animals and pets, attacked by panthers. And that’s down from some 47 last year.

Well, video of this wildlife corridor above, under what looks like a freeway, released by the Florida Department of Transportation illustrates plainly what a hub for wildlife Collier County truly is. Alligators, panthers, and bears, oh my, this place is the yellow brick road for wildlife.
