When you think about it, snowboarding is such a simple thing. All one really “needs” is a pair of bindings, a board and a pair of boots. For all of us it’s a way to escape, to be part of something that’s really only part of a moment. And we’re happily stuck in it thanks to a single plank we use to glide on snow. But time and capitalism marches on and much to the distaste of many who’ve been in the game for years, we have to move on from the child within. Sometimes we have to be adults and grow up.
Or do we? Snowboarder, writer, producer, and filmmaker Elias Elhardt takes a serious look at the CONTRADDICTION–the struggle to hold out and continue the path of living in the mountains while balancing the realities of age and “making a living.” As Elhardt puts it, CONTRADDICTION is, “a complicated reflection on snowboarding’s beautiful simplicity.” And it’s absolutely gorgeous.
