On filming trip with TGR in Alaska,
freeskier Elyse Saugstad took a gnarly crash in what looks like the run-out of a big line (she was carrying plenty of speed). Saugstad wasn’t specific with exactly what part of her body was injured, but her tone sounded as if that might be it for her winter (it’s late anyway). “Not sure yet if my crash is a season ender or just a few weeks off, but it did unfortunately cut my Alaska film trip with @tetongravity short,” she wrote. ” I still got plenty of skiing and filming in on the trip….The main thing I don’t look forward to is the chunk of time I may have to be idle!”

Saugstad did an interview with Trevor Husted, which was published today on The Inertia (read it here). In a wide-ranging interview, she talked about breaking through in a male-dominated industry, winning performance of the year in 2018 and ironically, how long she can continue to push the envelope: “There really is is a point where you can’t keep skiing the way you (want to). It will eventually evolve into something where I’m not so hard on the body.”
