For fans of Zeke Lau and Seth Moniz, their respective exits from the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach likely came as a bit of a shock. Moniz is currently on track to take 2019 Rookie of the Year (though, many heats remain to be surfed) and Lau’s power surfing seems to suit big, stormy, Sunset Beach-like Bells so well. That they proved unable to put scores together in the round of 32 (in Zeke’s case) and the round of 16 (in Seth’s case) meant we didn’t get to see as much of the Hawaiians as we would have liked. Shame.
Lucky for all those involved, though, there’s a consolation prize in the video above – Moniz and Lau taking turns cracking the tops off of back-to-back Victoria walls. And if we’re making wagers, we’d bet Moniz and Lau are heading to Keramas and, later, Margaret River hungrier than ever.
