May gray and June gloom really suck in Southern California. This is the time of year everybody is ready for days on the beach in the summer sun, south swells with water warm enough to trunk it, you know, the stuff the Beach Boys made the world believe California life was all about.
But no, we get overcast skies through the early days of summer.
On the bright side, pun completely intended, it’s officially Wedge season. For the next few months more viral WTF moments will happen on this wave than any other in the Golden State simply because the refracting closeout is something people try to survive as much as they try to actually surf. And that’s entertaining.
