Mammoth PR flacks are currently screaming at the tops of their lungs for anyone within earshot, or a computer device, to hear: winter isn’t over! A winter storm warning is in effect over most of the Sierra Nevada and the big mountain on the eastern side is already reporting 10 inches this morning.
“Heavy snow above 5,000 feet,” reads the advisory, which ends this morning, officially. “Additional snow accumulations of up to 12 inches today. Thunderstorms are possible with heavy snowfall and gusty winds. Storm total snow amounts up to two feet. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.”

So yeah, maybe wax the boards and skis one more time for some May pow. Mammoth will be open for riding until the July 4th weekend holiday.
Further north, Squaw Alpine received some seven inches overnight. The weekend is looking good for at least one more run of powder.
