The Inertia

Unless you’re a surfer on the world tour, chances are good that more often than not the waves you surf every day are not amazing. Sure, there are probably those days where everything lines up, the wind goes offshore, and for some reason, barely anyone is in the water, but those days are few and far between. That, of course, makes those days all the more special, but a board that works in less-than-good conditions should be something that every surfer has in their quiver. Enter the Ultra Joe.

“The Ultra Joe is a progressive step forward for beginner/intermediate surfers while at the same time is an inviting step down for average to good surfers seeking something fun and cruisy on the smaller, weaker days,” the Channel Islands team explains. “As compared to its predecessor the Average Joe, the all-new Ultra Joe boasts refined, sensitive rails, a double-bump squash tail, narrower nose with an updated rocker profile, and additional exit rocker.”

Above, you’ll see CI Lead Designer Britt Merrick, CI Team Manager Nathaniel Curran, and the inimitable Bobby Martinez putting the thing through its paces.
