It may not be a gargantuan wave facility, able to pump out surf that mimics the ocean, but the new floating wave machine in Milan, Italy will certainly allow landlocked surfers to put fins to water. This weekend, the new wave opened at Wakeparadise, a wakeboarding cable park outside Milan.

The wave technology, comes from UNIT Surf Pools, a German company we interviewed last year. The wave near Milan is about 30 feet wide and has three different configurations as it can be adjusted to the level of surfer. The park is boasting the “largest floating wave in the world” in its promotional materials and it can be rented for considerably less than other pools around the world. Fifty bucks gets you an hour of surfing as compared to say $90 per-hour at most surfparks like BSR. The pool reportedly cost around $1.7 million to build.
