Shark sightings have come often this summer in Massachusetts, closing beaches at a higher rate than normal during the busiest season. The latest was Duxbury Beach south of Boston, which was closed after a pair of large great white sharks were caught on video feeding on a dead minke whale carcass (above).
Beachgoers were reportedly ordered out of the water Sunday while the dead whale was removed. The waters were reopened on Labor Day for holiday visitors. But not before a boatload of tourists and sightseers got more than they bargained for. You can see another view, here.
It’s been a rough summer in the Northeast: after the region experienced two shark attacks last year (one deadly), local media estimates there have been at least 90 beach closures this season.
