The Inertia

Christmas 2019 may be over and dusted, but it would seem Mother Nature has a belated gift for invitees of the Eddie Aikau Invitational if the current forecast for the North Shore of Oahu pans out according to predictions.

A swell in the North Pacific is poised to bring surf in the 18-20-foot-plus range to areas of the Seven Mile Miracle including Waimea Bay and organizers behind the Eddie say it may be enough to run the contest, which last ran in 2016.

North Shore legend Liam McNamara, who also happens to be behind the Eddie, told Hawaii’s KHON 2 News that the event could be put on standby as early as Thursday and given the green light later this week as forecasts come into focus.

We’ll continue to update this story as it develops.
