Bigfoot has long been a legendary figure among outdoor lovers of the Pacific Northwest. For decades, there have been people who’ve dedicated their lives to finding the mythic beast. We talked to some experts, and searched for the animal ourselves, last summer.

But this week, a Washington Department of Transportation Cam might have added the most significant fuel to the fire in years. A shot, which you can see above, from a cam on Washington State Route 20 – also known as the North Cascades Highway which traverses the northern part of state – pinpointed a strange looking figure on one of its webcams. You can see the figure’s outline near the tree (although it does look a lot like someone wearing an ape suit, or even a tree trunk, hey, call us crazy).

“Sasquatch spotted!!!” wrote WSDOT on its Twitter page. “I’m not superstitious… just a little stitious. Have you noticed something strange on our Sherman Pass/SR 20 webcam before? If you look closely by the tree on the left there looks to be something… might be Sasquatch… We will leave that up to you!”

And the reactions are plenty (one of the best: “Where does he tweet?”). Even reputable news outlets like the Oregonian reported on it. You can read the reactions, here. In the meantime, you can watch our search, above, and give us your thoughts on whether or not this might be an actual sighting. We may or may not have more as the story develops.
