The Inertia

When we think of finless surfing, it’s impossible not to think of the likes of Derek Hynd and his finless craft at J-Bay, Ryan Burch riding a chunk of close-celled foam in San Diego, or Santa Barbara-area shaper Ryan Lovelace and his finless concept, the Rabbit’s Foot.

It’s easy to hate on the unorthodox nature of finless surfing – in that it hardly resembles the approach of driving down the line and/or hitting the lip vertically that we’ve grown so accustomed to. But, it’s worth something that converts like those mentioned above, and William Aliotti here, seem to be having boatloads of fun skimming past sections without the benefit of friction to slow them down.
