It’s called the Perfect Chapter, and it’s a little different than most events. Taking place on the best day of the entire Portuguese winter, it includes a lineup of competitors who are voted in by the fans. Its focus is on the best part of surfing: the barrel. A few months ago, before the world went to hell in a handbasket, the Perfect Chapter fired the starter’s gun at Carcavelos, a fickle place that absolutely fires when conditions line up.
