It’s been a strange year in surfing. A strange year for just about everything, actually. Beaches closed, officials cuffing surfers who dare break the rules, competitive surfing struck from the books. But a global pandemic doesn’t mean the waves stop coming. It might just be the Corona-tinted glasses, but this year, the year where surfing basically stopped for a lot of people, has been a year full of waves. And not just during the lockdown; the months before were chock-full of waves of beastly proportions. Here, in all their glory, complete with surfers who scored before the pandemic, are the biggest waves of the 2019/2020 big wave season. All the usual suspects are included. Kai Lenny and Jaws, Maya Gabeira and Nazaré, Sebastian Steudtner, and Justine Dupont. Courtesy of the World Surf League, of course.
