There’s little doubt that Mundaka is the gem of the Spanish Basque Country. The gorgeous left-hand point is easy to identify in photo and film and has been a proving ground for European surfers for decades. With the recent Hurricane Epsilon that lit up Europe like it hasn’t been lit up in years, surfers enjoyed an unreal run of swell. Aurélien Buffet took advantage. Instead of Nazare or Ireland, or other big wave locales, Buffet visited an old standby. “This is a summary of a last-minute trip to the Spanish Basque Country during the biggest swell in the past six years,” he wrote. Looks as though he made a good call.
