This is what it looks like when things get real. Swiss snowboarder Mat Schaer posted this insane clip to his Instagram page recently from Mont Gautier in the Alps where he induces mach speed to escape a serious avalanche. He was extremely humbled after escaping the slide, a good reminder of the hollow snowpack we’re dealing with here in the Western U.S. “I feel very lucky I rode out of this and I’m not showing it out of pride,” he wrote. “The mountain is stronger and being humble is the best way to ride longer.
