The Inertia

Every year, Vissla does something interesting. It’s a good tradition, for a few reasons. Those business cliches like “team-building” actually do have a lot of merits, even if you can’t stand the guy in the cubicle next to you. Doing fun little things that help you work together better really does make for a better day’s work, and that leads to better work for the employer and a better day for the employee. But aside from that, Vissla’s annual team-building exercise looks like a really, really good time.

Vissla, of course, has a team of creators and innovators who don’t necessarily think in straight lines. The week is for “collaborative experimentation, board building, mind merging, and overall creation,” and this year, it took place in the Santa Cruz mountains. Once there, they spent a few days testing board design theory along with fins and templates, then put their ideas into practice on the new boards they’d made. And we’d wager that everyone involved can’t wait for next year.

Oh, and if you’re interested in that radical camper on the back of Jay Nelson’s Toyota at the 3:00 minute mark, you’ll likely be interested in this course we created with him, aptly titled Jay Nelson’s Guide to Building a Pop Top Camper.
