The Inertia

Style is weird. The whole idea of it, if you really think about it, is just… strange. A certain person moves a certain appendage a certain way and voila, that person is stylish. Meanwhile, a certain person moves a certain appendage a slightly different way and boom, they’re a trash surfer with a poo stance. Weird, right? We all just know what good style is, though, but it’s extraordinarily hard to define. Well, the WSL attempted to pin down the surfer with the best style on tour in this episode of Getting Heated, and Selema Masekela joined in.

The style question, however, was just one of a few. First off, Coco Ho, Mick Fanning, and Selema Maskela discuss whether or not surfers actually need their coaches with them at events. Then, they talk about what the single most important thing a competitive surfer can do outside the water before getting into the style quandary.
