The Inertia

It’s been a strange year for everyone on Earth. Kolohe Andino, however, might have more on his plate than most. There was lockdown. A dream trip to Indonesia. Then surgery after an injury at Pipeline. And then a baby on the way. The Olympics, a new surf film dropping in September. Lots of stuff, right? Red Bull sat down with him at home in San Clemente to get his thoughts on all of it.

“It’s been a weird year because I haven’t surfed much, and I thought surfing, especially competitive surfing, was my life,” said Kolohe. “Once that got taken away from me, all of these rad new things started happening — it’s been the best year of my life.”

Kolohe Andino is a San Clemente, Calif. staple. It’s the surfiest of surf towns, and although he travels the world finding waves, there’s no place like home.
