One of the strangest/coolest things about surfing on Oahu is the fact that, at any given wave, you might find yourself beside a top-level pro. Depending on the time of year, lineups can be clogged with tour surfers, free surfers, and really, really good locals. Imagine, for a second, that you’re playing basketball at the outdoor court down the street from your house. LeBron James and James Harden show up and start playing a pickup game right beside you. It’d be weird, right? Right.
Eli Olson recently made the trip from the North Shore out to Town to surf a spot at the Kewalo Basin. It’s a fun, consistent spot, especially for Oahu’s South Shore, and although the waves weren’t anything to write home about, Kelly Slater was in the water putting on a clinic, as usual. Eli Olson paddled into a few as well, and his vlog is a good look at summer time on the South Shore.
