Jamie O’Brien spends a lot of his life waiting. He’s waiting, of course, for Pipe season. Oh, he distracts himself well enough — finding different waves in different places, throwing himself off the bigger ones, sometimes on things other than surfboards — but in the back of his mind, he’s holding his breath. Well, Pipeline is open for business, and Jamie is breathing a sigh of relief.
The first real Pipe swell of the season hit the most famous wave on Earth, and Jamie wouldn’t have missed it for the world. He was there, along with John John Florence and many others, to partake in the North Shore’s finest. And what a day it was.
