If you’ve spent the majority of your life surfing the kinds of waves Nathan Florence surfs, pulling back is reserved only for waves that are completely and totally un-makeable. Even then, though, the “un-makeable” ones are the ones that could potentially offer the most reward, so making the decision to pull back is often one that’s made quickly and often one that ends in either great relief or incredible frustration. But sometimes, you just gotta do it. Especially when you’re staring down a giant Pipeline double up. But of course, Nathan still managed to snag a few good ones in a recent sunrise session.
