The first annual Summer Recap Online Contest is an opportunity to showcase your surfing and skating skills to the world. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or looking for your first local sponsorship, you need more than just board skills: you need to know how to promote yourself and get exposure. Through this contest, you will be able to create a public profile with your best photos, videos, info and accomplishments to show to friends, brand sponsors, journalists and contest judges. The profiles are free to keep and update through the end of the year. Finalists will be chosen in both surf and skate categories by judges and overall popularity.
As Contest judge Casey Butler pointed out, 4 of the top 17 female surfers on the World Tour do not have a sponsor endorsement. The disparity between competition purses and sponsorship dollars is increasing, and Summer Recap has found it to be true in skating as well. With this understanding, Summer Recap is aiming to help surfers and skaters increase their value to current and potential sponsors.

Judges:
- Casey Butler: Freelance surf & travel writer, and regular contributor to ESPN Surfing, FREESURF, Surfer, SURFBANG, The Inertia, Eastern Surf Magazine, and other fine surf media outlets.
- Evandro Menezes: Pro skater since 1998, and partner of Agua Web Designs. Not only fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese, but also HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Shawn Tracht: Teacher, surfer, writer, photographer, and web builder. Columnist writer for Deep Surf Magazine and staff writer for Slide Magazine. Check out more of his work at Surfwanderer.com and stsurf.com.
The judges are looking for the surfers and skaters across the country who can capture the attention of sponsors and journalists in a unique and compelling manner. The contest is for all skill levels – whether you’re aiming to score a sponsorship with the local shop, global brand, or just want to have fun and win some prizes.
