About ten years ago, Mason Ho went on a surf trip. Over the years, he’s done many of them, and over the years he’s filmed a lot of waves in different places. But on that trip a decade ago, he surfed a little slab with no cameras around. He was on the trip with Sunny Garcia and Chris Ward when they first spotted it. “While watching it, Mason mentioned the wave might be rideable,” Mason’s YouTube channel explains. “That’s when Wardo and Uncle Sunny made a simple bet with Mason and it was… ‘Let’s see it!'”
Well, Mason surfed it. And since then, it’s been tickling the back of his brain; a memory with a little “what if” embedded. A “what if” that wanted to know what that slab might be like on a better day. In chapter two Mason’s newest film, entitled Mason’s Medieval Madness — the entirety of which is a multi-part visual offering from the trip — he returns. The clip you see above was the first day of the trip, and it’s safe to say that the wee slab lived up to Mason’s “what if.”
