If Burton were a country, they’d be damn near unstoppable in the realm of Olympic snowboarding. Mark McMorris, Ayumu Hirano, Anna Gasser, Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, Red Gerard, Su Yiming… The list just keeps on going, and I’m sure I missed a couple.
Being a part of the Burton team is like being a part of a family. They take care of one another, and love nothing more than sharing experiences together, especially riding powder in the backcountry. Donna Carpenter, co-founder of Burton and the de-facto family mom, made sure that her Olympic squad made time to do just that this year, organizing a trip to Baldface, BC for her Olympian team riders. “We know [the Olympics] is a lot of pressure for you guys,” Donna said to Mark McMorris, “but we want you to remember what snowboarding is all about: bluebird days with powder – I don’t know how we pulled that off – and the community of people that we are with.”
