By no means is the Wedge shut down right now. But the onset of pumpkin-spice-latte season doesn’t just mark an annual moment for Southern Californians to start donning beanies in high-60s temps, or Northern Californians to break out their Uggs/bluejeans/hoodie combo at the pumpkin patch. It also means we’re turning a corner at the slab in Newport. It’ll soon no longer be buzzing with activity, quiet and calm until next spring brings south swells, daydreams of viral sand enemas, broken boards, side-wash explosions, and the rare and glorious made barrel.
The Wedge has no shortage of videographers and photographers who regularly document the action there each summer. But few (maybe none) draw as many eyes as Beefs T.V. That makes this particular wipeout reel a solid pick for summing up this past season’s biggest and baddest calamities. A full 16 minutes of the exact thing you expect (and morbidly want) to see when the Wedge turns on: wipeouts. Nothing but wipeouts.
Enjoy.
