The Inertia

Mason Ho knows how to surf a dangerous wave. In fact, dodging through rocks in waters that most would consider un-surfable is a bit of a trademark of his. For definitive proof, look no further than the fact that he has a series of videos called “Dangerously Fun Surfing” that’s on its sixth installment.

Seeing as The Wedge is one of California’s more dangerous and unpredictable waves, it’s a natural place for Mason to stop at on a trip to the west coast. Though Ho is generally associated with ripping up waves in his Hawai’ian home (He’s basically North Shore royalty, after all) he made recently the journey across the Pacific and just released an edit from the trip.

The day in question was a kinder, gentler version of The Wedge than we’re used to. It’s wasn’t the crushing behemoth that we’ve seen drive surfers into the sand like nails into pine. Most shocking of all, it was also uncharacteristically un-crowded. However, if there’s a barrel to be found, Mason’s in it, as you can see from the video.
