“I can’t believe we made the call and it actually paid off,” Ben Gravy excitedly exclaims to the camera.
The scene is from his latest YouTube release, where he’s looking out his window onto what he describes as “potentially the best windswell Florida has ever seen.” As he goes on to gleefully proclaim, this is as good as it gets (in Florida, at least).
When he made it into the water, his trademark enthusiasm seemed to be warranted after all. Though it’s hard to verify his claim that he rode the “longest barrel in the state of Florida,” he did log some serious tube time in the waist-high surf.
“I’ve literally never seen anything like it in Florida,” summed up Gravy afterwards. He called it one of the best novelty waves he’s ever scored, which means a lot coming from him. The man has basically dedicated his life to chasing down weird waves, so he knows what he’s talking about.
