The South American leg of the 2025 Slab Tour has ended, it seems. Now, Nathan Florence has moved on to Australia, where he just posted an edit of a session at firing Cape Solander.
In case you haven’t heard, the east coast of Australia has had some absolutely insane swell lately. For most residents, that was cause for alarm, as massive waves earlier this month destroyed buildings, flooded neighborhoods, and led to at least six deaths. The surfers saw it very differently though. Big wave spots like Deadman’s and Cape Solander absolutely lit up as a result of the conditions, providing the sort of mammoth slabs that have earned them their terrifying reputations. Big wave regulars like Tim Bonython have been posting seemingly non-stop clips of the absolute mayhem that ensued.
Nathan Florence was bound to get in on the action at some point. His 2025 “slab tour” just started a month ago with a trip to Chile’s “The Thing,” which was followed by a visit to Silverbacks in Panama. This left him primed to answer the siren song of waves in Sydney. There, he was joined by a murderer’s row of big wave surfing talent, including Kipp Caddy, Kirk Flintoff and Josh Ku.
