The latest video from Tim Bonython starts with him gleefully anticipating the next swell. From his Sydney home, Tim calls SwellNet’s Craig Brokensha to get the lowdown on whether an oncoming storm will be worth the chase – and if so, where will it go.
Brokensha replies with good news. “It’s a big bombing low, with storm force to hurricane force winds,” he says over speakerphone. “It’s aiming mostly towards Tazzie, though.”
Which means one thing: Shipstern Bluff.
As always, the wild break (nicknamed “Shippies” with typical Australian nonchalance) lived up to the hype. Bonython followed the regular crew of Australian swell chasers and slab hunters into the abyss and emerged with fantastic footage of the shifting, treacherous, unforgiving behemoth.
