The Inertia

We’re less than a week away from the Trestles Pro. The eighth stop on the Championship Tour will feature a leaner and meaner lineup, owing to the mid-season cut (despite Kelly Slater managing to sneak his way in there, somehow), and they’re already converging on San Clemente. Thanks to enterprising photographers watching the action, that means we get a little preview of what’s to come.

The footage comes courtesy of the YouTube channel Old Surf Dad. The photographer (and podcaster) has been posted up at Trestles all week, capturing footage of the pros at work. Trestles attracts its fair share of rippers on a regular basis, but this is truly something else. Over three days of warmups he captured what can only be described as the most freakishly talented lineup in the world – and a total nightmare for any locals just trying to get a wave or two.

The video is edited in raw format, so it’s pretty much just surfing. And most of the WSL’s best athletes are on hand to tear Lowers apart. You can watch the whole series from Old Surf Dad, here.
