The Inertia

Tatiana Weston-Webb may have taken a step back from competition, but that hasn’t slowed her down a bit. The latest development for the Olympian comes from out of the water, though: an announcement that she is expecting a baby. At the same time, she also provided a timeline for her potential return to the Championship Tour.

“We are so excited to share that we are expecting one of the best gifts God has given us! A baby girl,” wrote Weston-Webb on Instagram. “Being a mother has always been a dream of mine, and entering this new chapter makes me feel stronger and more motivated than ever.”

Weston-Webb has been on competitive hiatus since March, after announcing her withdrawal from the remainder of the 2025 Championship Tour season, citing mental health reasons. “I realized that I needed to pay closer attention to my emotional health,” she explained at the time. “As an athlete, I have always been passionate about what I do, but I also know that taking care of my well-being is essential to honoring my passion and continuing to compete at a high level. The emotional and physical exhaustion I have felt lately were clear signs that it was time to pause and reconnect with myself.” The development brought an early close to a disappointing 2025 season for Weston-Webb, that found her ranked second-to-last and potentially facing the mid-season cut.

However, the pregnancy announcement also contained news of a potential timeline for her return to competition. “We are seeing more often that women can be high-performance athletes and incredible mothers, especially when we have the support of sponsors, partners, family, and people who believe in our potential to shine in both journeys,” she added. “My goal is to try to return to the WSL Championship Tour full-time in 2026, even stronger and more inspired. This is just the first step of a new journey, and I hope it shows other women that we don’t have to choose between our dreams and motherhood.”
