Nitro Snowboards has been teasing its latest full-team project for some time now. Social media has revealed the occasional preview here and there while filmmaker Ted Borland gathered clip after clip of the brand’s team riders. The final product, SPIKE, dropped this past week. The 30-plus-minute film came just in time for North American snowboarders to get one last hype flick to set the tone for the new season.
There’s a little something for everybody — big turns on dream-like powder days and street segments that feel raw. Iris Pham put on a clinic in her short but memorable segment that closes with casually taking down a massive kink rail. About halfway through, Tom Tramnitz throws a little bit of everything into two minutes that could have deserved its own film. But as mentioned, the entire 30 minutes packs a lot to digest, showcasing the brand’s full team of riders, including Sam Taxwood, Bryan Fox, Dominik Wagner, Nils Arvidsson, Mateo Massitti, Jordan Morse, Nick Miller, Hunter Goulet, Griffin Siebert, and more, riding through Sweden, Finland, Japan, the U.S., and Canada.
“Spike is a contemporary take on the classic snowboard film, driven 100 percent by the riders and creators, to showcase the candid and organic approach of what happens when a snowboard team, built up of friends, sets out to film snowboarding that will get snowboarders hyped to go boarding,” reads the description.
