The Inertia

Rescuers have recovered a second body in the search for a Spanish soccer coach and three of his children who went missing after a tour boat sank in Indonesia.

On Friday, December 26, a boat carrying the family of six – four crew members and a local guide – was traveling from Komodo Island to Padar Island when it suffered engine failure and sank, as CBS News reports. Fathur Rahman, the head of the Maumere Search and Rescue Office, told the outlet that soon after, three people were rescued by a passing boat, and another four were retrieved by a search and rescue team. However, that left the father and three children still lost at sea.

On Saturday, December 27, Spanish soccer club Valencia CF confirmed on X that the missing man was its Women’s B team coach Fernando Martin. The club also confirmed that the 44-year-old Martin’s three children were also missing.  “At this extremely difficult time, the club would like to express its deepest condolences and full support to his family, friends and colleagues at Valencia CF, Valencia CF Femenino and the VCF Academy.”

As Daily Mail reports, the search continues for the bodies of the two remaining children, and local police have begun an investigation into the cause of the accident.
