A great surf session can last forever in the mind. Though the experience itself is often fleeting, the memory of a good day will remain long after your hair has dried and the boards have been returned to the rack (if you’re that kind of organized). We remember those special times when the swell, wind, tide, and our mood all lined up to make it work.
SESSIONS is a new series from The Inertia that captures those moments, and puts them in a timeless format. Made for surfers, by surfers, each episode of SESSIONS is a simple formula: Just surfing. That’s it. Because, at the end of the day, that’s what it’s about. All of the waves. None of the bullshit.
The first episode is helmed by Frankie Seely. A consummate Malibu local, Seely has been surfing First Point since her dad took her out at the age of two. At 13, she began surfing competitively, and since then has expanded into a multi-hyphenate artist, surfer, editor and businessperson.
Though Seely may be most at home in Los Angeles County, this session took her a little farther north, to Rincon. Riding a brand new board made by Oceanside shaper Michael Takayama, she danced across the kind of waves that only the Queen of the Coast could deliver.
Check it all out below. And welcome to SESSIONS.
