The Inertia

Yet another wave pool is one step closer to becoming a reality. According to a new press release, the Surf Farm has decided to partner with Wavegarden to bring its technology to the upcoming Australian facility.

Located at the Glass House Mountains on Queensland, Australia’s Sunshine Coast, the Surf Farm will convert a 25-acre former pineapple farm into what promises to be a state-of-the-art artificial wave. While the pool had previously been looking at using pneumatic technology, the new announcement explains that the project will feature an electromechanical system designed by Wavegarden. The company touts the 62-module Wavegarden Cove as its most advanced and versatile system to date.

This will be Wavegarden’s third facility on the east coast of Australia and the first to be located in Queensland. Once completed, the facility will also claim the distinction of being the largest Wavegarden facility on Australia’s east coast.

“The 62 modules Wavegarden Cove will provide an exceptional breadth of wave settings, offering one of the most versatile surf experiences in the region,” said Wavegarden Founder and CEO Josema Odriozola. “We are delighted to partner with the Surf Farm team and look forward to seeing this world-class destination come to life,”

Surf Farm is expected to break ground later this year.
